The new Defender Banner v

The title is how I feel about Microsoft product names ๐Ÿ˜€ They will never be finished… The Defender family has again a new name and yet, which Microsoft services don’t have new names by now, right? ๐Ÿ™‚ Anyway. To make it easier for you guys, I updated my one-year-old poster/infographic (initial version from the 13th of October 2020) for the “new” Defender family.

Why? Well, because we got a new name again. If you want to have a custom poster, get in touch with me. Just visit my Contact. BIG THANKS to Senior Program Manager, Heike Ritter (Twitter) for collaborating on the first initial version of this!

If you want to learn more about Microsoft 365 Defender for Endpoint, just check the official page by Microsoft here or if you want to learn more about the unified solution including SIEM and XDR, check my new poster in German & English here (XDR versus SIEM).

Old names | New names

Microsoft still likes to rename existing products. 2021 is no different than 2020 in that regard. ๐Ÿ™‚ You see the previous names in the poster above which also helps to remember the new names even better. With this step, Microsoft is able to combine many different services under the big umbrella and shield “Defender”. It does make sense for sure. I was hoping that the names stay for at least a year or two. Well, for all but Microsoft Cloud App Security it was the case. ๐Ÿ™‚ If you want to get more into Microsoft 365 Defender, I created a free guide in German and English as well. Check it out here Microsoft 365 Defender Guide, in there Microsoft Cloud App Security has still the “old” name.

More Infographics?

The infographic/poster section is evolving more and more. Currently, this dedicated category has over 20 infographics. They even cover 2 comics and of course services like Microsoft Teams, SharePoint, OneDrive, Forms, Stream, Planner, and many more.
